HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is a way to secure your website and protect “the integrity and confidentiality of your users’ data” (Google).
As far back as August 2014, Google has announced that the modification of the security certificate of its website on HTTPS / SSL (also known as “HTTP over TLS”, Transport Layer Security) would be used as a classification signal, even if weak. At the time, Google foresaw that switching from HTTP to HTTPS would have had a positive impact on less than 1% of global queries.

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) is an Internet communication protocol that protects the integrity and privacy of data exchanged between computers and sites. Users expect that the use of an online website is safe and private. We therefore invite you to adopt the HTTPS protocol to protect the connection of users to your website, regardless of the contents of the site.

Data sent via HTTPS are protected using the Transport Layer Security protocol ( TLS ), which provides three levels of fundamental protection:

1. Encryption. The data exchanged are encrypted to protect them from interception. This means that, while the user visits a website, no one can “listen” to his conversations, keep track of the activities carried out on several pages or steal his information.
2. Data integrity. The data can not be modified or damaged during the transfer, intentionally or not, without being detected.
3. Authentication. Demonstrate that users communicate with the intended website. It protects against attacks man-in-the-middle and instills confidence in users, which translates into other commercial advantages.
